ThoughtPort began in Chicago in the mid-1990s, operating as ThoughtPort Authority of Chicago, Inc. and doing business as SpeedSite OnLine and Power Web Connect. We supported early creators with hosting and dial-up service, contributed to network-operations best practices, and helped document the evolving internet.

Today we continue that spirit — researching, preserving, and advising on network data stewardship.
